FOCUSED, EXPERIENCED LEGAL COUNSEL

  • Collaborative divorce: Do you want to avoid the emotional scars and expense of a courtroom battle over your divorce? Divorce does not have to be the end of a relationship — instead, it can be a transition to a new relationship with your former spouse. The collaborative divorce process allows a couple to settle all the divorce issues without the stress of going to court.
  • Divorce mediation: As difficult as it may seem during the painful dissolution of a marriage, many couples are able to find a cooperative path, allowing reasonable negotiation and resolution of issues involving property and children both during and after the divorce. I am available to serve as a mediator, helping divorcing couples come to an agreement that works for each spouse and their children.
  • Family law: Have circumstances changed since your divorce? Are you being denied contact with your grandchildren? I represent clients in the area, including Lawrence and Haverhill, in a wide variety of family law matters, including those involving divorce, separation, child support, child custody, visitation, spousal support/alimony, modification of spousal support or child custody orders, relocation of parents, grandparent visitation and contempt actions.
  • Estate planning: Have you considered the powerful statement you will be making to your family through the terms of your will and other estate planning documents? Have you designated a representative to manage your affairs if you become incapacitated? If not, now is the time. I will draft the necessary documents to guide the courts, your medical providers and your family in the event of your death or incapacitation. For many, a will, living will, medical power of attorney, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) permission and durable power of attorney will be adequate. Larger estates or families with special needs may want to consider instruments such as living trusts or special-needs trusts to provide for children and minimize the costs of probate and taxes.
  • Probate administration: Are you prepared, during the difficult period following the death of a family member, to work through the confusing and difficult court processes involved in probate and estate administration? I represent clients in probate court and estate administration matters, ensuring all details are managed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Real estate transactions: Are you concerned about clear title to the home you are purchasing? Is there a risk you will be sued after the sale of your property? I review and draft real estate contracts involving sales, purchases and leases, handle residential landlord-tenant issues, conduct residential real estate closings and provide title examination services. I am a licensed title agent in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
